Woops!

So, if you throw the couch cushion covers into the wash, they'll come out a LOT cleaner than you can get the couch iteself with your Little Green Machine.

I wonder if anyone would believe us when we said it's supposed to be a two-tone design?

Yeah, it's time to start saving for a couch. Thankfully, this one is beyond repair, anyway. I just didn't need to go and make it any uglier than it already was.

Maybe we should compare photos of our couches (through email 'cause I ain't posting it). I don't know about you, but it would do me a world of good to know that other people have couches as bad (or even almost as bad) as ours. :)

How about slip covers? Not that they stay in place or anything, and they look lopsided and sort of awful most of the time, but you Can pull them up to cover the stained fabric and ripped foam when company is coming for a brief visit! Our couches are a disaster, but I thought it would be good to wait til the kids were more civilized before replacing them (oh, and then we ran out of money anyway!).

KathyJo, you're on. This is a *white* couch (what were we thinking? It was free, but still... what are we, masochists?) And it's not supposed to be washed. Or get wet. Or fed after midnight.

Melora, I looked at slip covers a while back, thinking that would buy us some time (and that I could then put an unseen slab of plywood under the cushions so people don't fall into the Incredible Collapsing Couch when they sit), but after pricing them, I tossed that idea. For half as much more, we can get a nice couch from IKEA that doesn't already have a broken frame, and it'll come w/ a cover. A washable cover, too! :-) Just gotta bide my time. And put pillows all over the couch.
