Citrus and Beverage Stands

Not-so-clever attempt at avoiding a cliche. ;-) There's that, and the Byrds (or Solomon's) To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven... *pfft* That is so much easier to say (or sing) and not mean (or to mean, but from a distance; makes a delightful third person pep talk), than to live and still say meaningfully. Let's just say I don't think the Book of Ecclesiastes was written by a hormonal woman. It's still wise, and good, and pertinent. It's just far easier to identify with at certain times. This is not one of those times.

But even so, it's been a good week.

Zorak did some concrete work in the basement this week and had a little leftover cement, so he got the boys together and they made "dinosaur eggs" using that and the plastic Easter egg remnants. Today they opened the molds, and the little eggs look great. We'll put some clutches out in the garden beds next week.

The horned toad we were planning to mummify... well, we packed it in salt so it wouldn't puff up and rot before we could buy the materials to preserve it. Then Zorak built a "tomb" to keep Baltoid out. And it seems the tomb was so well-concealed that we forgot about it. I'm mostly afraid to go look now. But we did get all the things to mummify it. Think we'll have another slightly cool day before summer hits full-on?

While everybody else was busy watching William the Conqueror and the Tapestry of Bayeux, both of which are excellent, I found this little gem...

And I've been giggling to myself all night.

Yes. It's been good.

Kiss those babies!

While you're enjoying your "Libation Station", have you seen this?

I found it a Christmastime, when your computer had no sound. I thought of you. ;)

Oh, my. That was funny!

And the William the Conquerer piece reminded me of my clubbin' days when "Warm Leatherette" was popular. Weird, but clever!

I bet you'll have another cool day, for the mummification process. Take pics even if gross!

What a great idea with the dinosaur eggs! We threw out a bunch of those plastic eggs this year, so I'll have to remember for next year.
The toad operation doesn't involve removing the brain or guts, does it? There is no way Ed would allow us to keep dead animals around, preserved or not, but I hope your toad goes well.
I liked your video! The William the Conquerer video and the reenactments of Hastings were funny -- T.'s kind of history.

Is mummification the kind of thing in my future as a homeschooling mom? If so, I'd better start exercising my gross-out reflex. Hmmmm, maybe cleaning out my fridge is a good place to start?

Sorry about the hormonal thing. I feel your pain. So does my family. But very funny video! I favorited it.

Dy, I must be a little slow this evening. I can't figure out the title. There's a joke in there somewhere, right? Do I dare try to write a blog post like this?

Too funny! We did the chicken mummy. Much to my initial doubt and later, wonderful suprise, it turned out fabulous! Isn't it like some sort of right-to-passage for homeschool mom's??

Hey there! We're okay. The horrible tornado (a MILE wide!!!) was in Greensburg, and that's at least 4 hours away. We still have storms and a tornado watch tonight, though.

Hillary, I am SO glad you are safe and sound. I've gotta bone up on my geography so I know when to panic and when it's all okay. Thanks for touching base.

Melissa, I'm hoping it'll be a good experience.

Jenni, you know, "when life hands you lemons..."

{{{Melkhi}}}. I hope you're feeling back up to speed soon.

Becca, it can be, if you *whisper in a creepy, Children of the Corn voice* join... us... come... Ok, ok, sorry. No, it's not set in stone. But it is really fun and fascinating. Does that count?

Melora, the toad operation will probably include removal of the major body cavity bits, but I think the cranial stuff can just stay put. Horned toads don't have large heads to begin with, and I'm, well, I'm just not putting my face that close to it for long enough to do any "detail work", kwim?
