Something New!

Well, it seems we have a new interest in the house...

um...

yay?

I don't know. James asks for so very little, and he is so happy with what he has. When he finds something that really makes his beanie twirl, I'm hesitant to say no.

And so, today we've been reading this, and this, and this...

*sigh*

Now to break the news to Zorak, who would have been happier to have an indoor cat.

Oh! I love Anoles! We have them wild here. They seem just as curious about us as we are about them, and as long as we don't try to touch them they are happy to hang around.

Have you found a wild one or are you thinking about keeping one as a pet?

What ever happened with the kitty? Don't let her see the lizard, cats find them delectable.

We had anoles all over the place in Florida (all over, but always Outside), and I think they are cute. Never occurred to me that they could be pets, but why not? I am typing with Harry the Cat warming my lap, though, and I have to say that cats have a higher cuddle factor. How about you let James have his lizard, and bring the cat in as well.

Yeah, we have them wild around here, too. There's a colony (is that the right word?) of them that lives on the balcony, and several more on the porch. We have a few that come in and out of the school room most days.

I know they can carry salmonella, so we've been rather rabid about not putting our hands in our mouths (maybe this will break James of the habit, eh?), and not letting EmBaby hold it (although she does love to have it on her head - go figure - yuck.)

As for both the cat and the lizard in the house - it would be a race to see whether Zorak or I could run away first. We're not big on "inside pets" at all. But, you should see this happy child, boning up no these things. *sigh* It's worth it.

But wait! Did you read the bit where they eat ctickets? You could keep one in the basement (espescially that scary room) and solve that problem - while being "green" at the same time! Cool! Plus, if you add a cat, you might end up getting a whole circle of life/food chain study going.

Or a living example of the Old Woman Who Swallowed the Fly story: crickets - anoles- cats- dogs- cows- horses- Ummm....... something dying.

Maybe that's not a good idea after all.

And, to add onto Hillary's comment, our Cat eats the horrible camel crickets in the basement too. So maybe you would have two useful pets eating the vermin. But if you guys don't want many more inside pets (which I can completely understand -- the pet hair here, with one cat and one dog, is amazing) I guess the anole would be good. I didn't know about the salmonella. Katie wants a hamster, but Ed is pretty staunchly anti-rodent.

I would encourage James (all of them)to draw the anoles as part of this impromtu nature study.

R brought me a bird's nest- I have a couple of photos to put up.

Hi Ernie.

I think I'd prefer a cat - and I'm allergic to cats. :o)

Um, congrats. :} Which is another way of saying, "Better you than me." But I mean that in the nicest possible way. :D

I emailed you. Maybe your IP will choose to be the bigger IP and accept my IP’s hand of friendship.
