RFID chips implanted under our skin? Eye scan recognition when we go to the bank? Seems very science fiction-ish, doesn't it? There was an article recently published in Consumer Reports about the prevalence of the RFID tags that are already put in or on many of the items we purchase regularly. These are used to track our purchases, create profiles about us and target advertising. Scary stuff when you really think about it.
Hey, if W and his cronies can monitor phone calls of legitimate US citizens, what's next? I swear ever since the terror threat of last week, my cell phone connection has been iffy, at best. Unfortunately, none of these measures do a darn thing to protect our safety.

Although, my understanding of the phone surveillance is that they are pulling the numbers from cell phones that are confiscated from cell (as in group) members. So unless your number is on speed dial on an Al-Quaida member's phone, you're not being surveyed. Personally, if someone in the US is chatting it up w/ members of these groups, I'd kinda like to know what's being said...
Melora, you can tell them you live here at the compound. Don't know if that'd make you any safer, but at least you'd have an address to use! Hang in there, you're almost "home"!!
Mere, LOL - me, too! Makes me not feel so bad about not having gone in to get Miss Emily a birth certificate or SS number yet. She may end up living in Argentina before she turns 18.
Do you really think that all of that will happen? It seems like a huge undertaking, dontcha think?
Please help me to understand if I seem dense but won't it be good as far as the illegal's go? Won't they have to actually prove that they live here legally?
