...As opposed to "our" town.

We suspected we'd moved into a not-so-great town when we started hearing it linked with high meth rates fairly regularly. Since then, our suspicions have been confirmed more than once - from the cut-down 2 liter soda bottle of gasoline left down by the barn by a string of vehicles that tore out of here when Baltoid heard them (???) to the threatening, name-calling letters sent by the mayor trying to intimidate (or shame) people into agreeing to his town expansion plan. Mailbox baseball isn't indicative of a "bad area", nor were we surprised when most of our campaign signs were stolen during the election. But the most recent display seems a bit off, unless it was done by a 30-year-old lefty on a bicycle.

Somebody had to have come down *into* our drive to bash it in the way they did. It's on the side of the mailbox opposite oncoming traffic, so it wasn't just some kids driving down the road, smacking boxes. And the dent indicates the blow came from behind the box, further up the driveway. Gah. Lovely, people. Absolutely lovely. I am ready to install a camera and surveillance.

Hmmm...is it possible it was hit with some kind of farm or road work equipment? Our neighbor with the feed lot comes through with some pretty wide loads and sometimes doesn't realize he hit a mailbox with that big thing he's hauling behind him. Just being hopeful:o)

We do have kids go a little wild and do the mailbox baseball thing. I don't think kids think about what they're doing or the time and money it takes to put up a new mailbox. And meth is all over. I've heard it's especially a problem in rural areas. It's sad to be driving down the road and wonder if that burned and blasted house is due to a propane tank or a meth lab. When we lived in Wichita, we had two different meth labs within a block of our house at different times. We never knew until after the bust. It's just a crazy world we live in.

They obviously don't know who they are dealing with!

To tell you the truth, I'm pretty worried for those idiots when you catch them, cuz' it ain't gonna be pretty.

Be safe!

I like to think, and say, "people would do better if they could". I console myself that aggressive drivers, perhaps have to "use the facilities, really bad", cuz I can relate to that...the farm vehicles scenario, and teens experimenting with physics and such, give me hope. Envisioning that your addition and example in the community brings better and better "choices" by the locals. In the mean time, a surveillance camera does have me curious....

A note on the meth challenge…here in the NW we had quite a bit of activity with drug labs etc. for several years and then it died down, moved along. Perhaps it won’t land in your area as much or as long…

Trusting all is truly well with you and yours,

Pamela

I'm sorry Dy.

Yea, Mere is right. They soooo don't know who they are messin' with. ;-)

Gasoline by your barn? Seriously? They would have set it on fire if not for the dog?

We have idiots cutting our chain link fence and now hopping the very tall fence to steal our 'junk' batteries (at work). I'm thinking about getting a Pitbull as a yard dog.
