Ha! At first I thought you got a new car, and maybe juice had been spilled on the dash board and down on the radio, freezing all the controls. And then I read further.
My 2006 six model was shushing me in church yesterday. She would start making noise and I would whisper, "SHHHH, you have to be quiet in church..." where upon she would turn and put her little finger (the one I am wrapped around) up to her lips and whisper loudly, "SHH, Mommy! Quiet!" It was hard not to laugh. I have know idea on how to teach voice modulation, but don't ask Will Farrell (or my boys.)
Not sure about your '06, but I'd sure love a mute button on the '05 and '03. And on the '01, for that matter!! Here's hoping the '08 is a little more peaceful!

See that bagel? That's what we've used with some success for our '05.
Skip volume control, girl. Go straight to the MUTE. Or channel change.
Hi-de-ho.
