Just in case...

Just in case I was going a little too easy on myself over this whole Halloween preparation (or lack of) thing...

And just in case I was living (rather blissfully) in denial about Thanksgiving...

Somebody just had to go and mention Christmas (only 73 days left!).

Then someone else came to the rescue with a planner. A free planner. Oh, that's a good idea! YES. I like lists. I like planning things. I like free. So I opened the site to see...

Week #1 - List Week Oct 3- 8

...that I'm already behind.

Oh, well.

For those who might enjoy some festive lists to lose for the holidays, there's Organized Christmas. (How wrong is that?)

I'll print them out. And I'll lose them. And I'll feel quite in the holiday spirit about the whole thing. We go with the flow around here. And did you know Advent calendars are a LOT of fun when you just eat the whole thing on Christmas Eve while you read the story in one shot? Yeah, it's not all bad.

The one thing we definitely would like to do this year is get Christmas cards out. Before New Year's. Preferably before Christmas, but we're starting slowly. Last year, we had such lovely cards adorning the bare studs in the living room - they made the Forever Home feel very much like Home, even when it was still, technically, an uninhabitable shack. And something that can brighten a room that much, well, it's something we'd like to share.

Besides, we're always up for an attempt to get all four children pointing the same direction at once, and smiling. Or at least not crying. One at a time, it's easy...

Even two at a time can be done...

But we've yet to accomplish anything with the whole gang...

I wonder how much work it would take to make a composite...

Kiss those babies!

Oh, they are so cute! And look how big Miss Emily is. :)

We re-use Halloween costumes. :) I think we might be all set for this year. We have literally every costume we've purchased since Jared was born sitting in the closet waiting for new children to grow into them. I'm cheap. This is a beautiful system for me. :D

Well, that's good enough for me! Not only are all four children in the picture, you managed to make a balloon sword. Who on that Christmas organization site can say that?

I have it easy, my boys want to be the same thing every year. I think Joe is going to be a pirate.

Just a Thought: That last picture would be a funny, and realistic Christmas picture and then individual shots could be included for the smiling face factor. Your kids are very cute!

Reminds me...I still need to take a crying picture of Logan. I have one crying picture of each kid which they think is very funny. Sometimes Logan sticks his bottom lip way out which melts my heart!

Melkhi, Zorak did that with each one, too, and now the boys think it's the funniest thing, also. I think we're going to try for an autumn photo - the leaves around here are just gorgeous, and make a wonderful backdrop. :-)

Laney, yeah, I am SO afraid of balloons, it's not funny. Therefore, I had nothing to do with the balloon sword. It was the mean, aggressive clown at the company picnic. He may have socially violent tendencies, but he can make lovely balloon animals.

Oooh such cute pics! I am right there with 'ya, Dy! I just cannot seem to get it together for Christmas cards or for the kids to sit still long enough to get them all in one frame. But I wil still try!

And there I was so pleased with myself for having managed to gather the basics for Halloween! Christmas cards? Yikes! (But I like the idea of a fall backdrop!)

I've resorted to bribery for the last two years to get pictures of the kids for cards, but I only have two to pose. If you can't get them all looking in the same direction and smiling (which I would bet you will manage), Melkhi's idea, of a composite of individual pictures, sounds good.

Dy, your kids are so cute!!

You know, when Gabe asked me to marry him almost four years ago, a friend told me to go to theknot.com for all the lists and "don't forget X" that I'd ever need for the wedding. So I checked it out, and it really was cool...but I was more than SIX MONTHS behind according to their schedule. Dang, I just should have gotten engaged sooner!

Somehow the wedding still happened. :)

I love the picture of all four kids together! It's so typical of close siblings - if the baby of the family is crying, or looking away from the camera, all the rest of the children look at the baby to comfort or correct. Classic!

Yes, pictures are tough--my goal is to get people looking pleasantly in the same general direction. I do not aim so high as smiles! Why set myself up for failure?! We took an autumn picture behind our house among the trees last year with the boys all in sweatshirts and jeans. It was really cute (i.e., they all were looking pleasantly sort of at me, LOL).

Look how they've GROWN!!!! (sniff, sniff) Emily is absolutely beautiful! Her smile just lights up her whole little face. I just can't beleive how big that they've all gotten.

Oh, yes...I happen to know a fabulously talented photographer....who travels...(via motorcycle these days). She doesn't need alot of arm twisting for road trips, I'm told.

Your family is just beautiful.

Dy-

Sorry! This comment is completely unrelated. I'm at my in-laws house and am trying to set them up with windows messenger IM. I can't add my contact to their list, because I can't remember what mine is. Something literary, I think.....

Could you please see what it is and then put it in the comment space on my blog?

Thanks!

Hillary (suffering from a bit of amnesia, apparently....)

Here's what I figure: if we make it to Christmas and there's at least one present under the tree for each kid (oh-and bonus pts for actually having a TREE in the first place), and there's some type of turkey something-or-other in the oven, then Score! We've accomplished Xmas! Woo Hoo. No worries about Halloween though - pull somthing out of the hall closet and call it a costume and we're good to go.
Luv, luv, luv the pics of the kids!

Those kids are so *cute* Dy! I'm going to turn into one of those kid squeezing old ladies, I just know it. I already have the urge to grab Emily's cheeks, even though I know how creepy it is for a kid to be attacked in such a manner. Oh well.

I tried to get a shot of all 5 kids last week. I uploaded the outtakes just for Jess but haven't had time to put them on the blog yet. Maybe this weekend...which is quickly leaving us. Oh well.

Just look at those babies! They are SO gorgeous! That last image of all the boys so obviously caterig to Miss Emily's every whim in an attempt to make her happy...that's just priceless! What a sweet and beautiful family you have!

Oh, wonderful pictures!! I love how attentive they all look in that last one - Emily has such great big brothers! She looks like she's trying very hard to tell them what's wrong, and they're trying hard to figure out what it is she's saying. Too cute! You have one cute family. :-)
