Who Would DO This?

When we returned from our October travels, we noticed our lower meadow (between the barn and the creek) had been bush-hogged. We assumed it was our Bush Hog guy who had done it, perhaps as a thank-you for fostering his tractor while it was dead.

I talked to him last night, though, and guess what? His tractor is still in the shop. He didn't do it. He asked if whoever it was had perhaps baled it, but no, they didn't. Just mowed it down. (Not that having baled, and taken, our alfalfa would have been better, but considering how dry it's been, it would have made more sense, at least.)

The Ghost-Hogger didn't leave a note, a phone call, a crop circle. Nothing.

I suppose it's certainly better to have kind strangers stopping in to do odd things, than to have some of the other bizarre encounters we've dealt with. There's that. And thankfully, the barn's still standing. But this is still our property, and with everything else we have dealt with, I'm just not too tickled about having strangers on our property doing anything at all. Let alone major maintenance.

And above all, why would someone do that? Would you ever randomly mow other people's meadows? Is there someone with OCD issues about grass height roaming the county with a tractor? Is it one of the men we'd contracted with *back in the Spring* to come bush hog, who finally showed up and... why only do part of the job, then? Why not leave a note? Why not call?

Curiouser and curiouser...

Kiss those babies!

Curiouser and curiouser indeed! Your life is certainly full of adventures, classic or not. :)

Could it be your water stealing neighbors? Perhaps trying to buy your approval? Maybe they know of something in that meadow that they were looking for whilst you were gone? Maybe you have Bush Hog driving Fairies?

That is very, very odd. Uncomfortably odd.

Have you walked the whole meadow? Perhaps the neighbors needed to have it mown -- mowed -- whatever because they had to dig up a body. Or a pipe. Whichever.

BWAHAHA!

"...a body. Or a pipe. Whichever."

Andie, that was funny! :)

Yeah, maybe it's a "thank you" for the water. Or a "s*#$w you"? lol That's just weird Dy, you move to the darndest places...

Maybe it was a random reader who just wanted to see his deed up in "lights" so to speak. lol

Hmmmm. Drunken bush-hogging?

Did you hear the story about the lady who came home to find carpet layers had misread an address and laid new carpet in her house by mistake? Is there some poor man scratching his head because so-and-so says he never bush-hogged their land, but he distinctly remembers doing it?

Or maybe Andie's right - they just needed to dig up a body.

Is it possibly a neighbor who thinks your meadow is his meadow?

Guys, you crack me up! Staci, I hadn't heard that story - I can't imagine how awkward that would be. LOL.

Barbara, I don't think it's likely anybody could think it was theirs. Our property is fenced in on the north and south boundaries, and that meadow is bordered by the road on the west end. Plus, you have to go down a Very Scary driveway to get to it, so it's not like you can accidently end up there.

Jess, I'd be willing to walk the whole thing, but not after Andie mentioned a body. *shudder* :-D Maybe Zorak'll check it out for me? He's big and strong and not afraid of creepy things...

Mere, yeah, I know. If there's buried treasure down there, the boys are going to be SO mad that we wouldn't let them dig it up first (they were convinced there must be treasure buried *somewhere* on the property when we first moved out here). lol.

Melhki, you mean... you mean... this doesn't happen to everyone? What? Are you saying these aren't your average happenings? Huh... weird. ;-)

Thanks for the smiles - somehow, you guys make things feel less ominous, and make me feel not-so-alone-in-the-boonies. I appreciate your humor and creativity.

That is strange. Hmmmmm. Over 10 years ago there were a couple farms sold for various reasons in my local area from one owner, who wasn't happy about it. He ended up continuing to mow one of the yard of a particular farm for quite some time. Creepy at best. Hopefully you can get it all figured out!

Congradulations about baby!
